What we collect
Simforever addon & companion data collection
Simforever Probe saves game data on your computer. By downloading the Windows companion, you agree to automatic sharing of recorded game data. Uploads start when you open the app. You can pause sharing in settings.
Build planner
The planner saves your current selections and saved builds in this browser. You can remove saved copies in the planner or clear the site's browser storage. Exported build files stay on your device.
Share links contain the build name, race, class, level, gear and talent choices. Anyone with a link can read those selections. The planner works in your browser and does not submit builds to the simulation API.
Data saved by the addon
The addon records available character stats, gear, talents, buffs, item data and loot sources. It also records fight context, cast events for players and pets, and resource readings. Each recording includes the client build and addon version.
Recordings can contain names and realms of group members or players you encounter or inspect. Some values are hidden by the game during combat and cannot be recorded.
Data uploaded by the companion
The Windows companion automatically uploads character measurements, combat logs and complete addon recordings. This includes recorded player names and realms, gear, talents, stats, buffs, combat actions, item readings, loot and group or inspected-player data.
Turn off complete recordings in settings to share only character measurements and combat logs. Turn off sharing to pause uploads. Linux users approve the upload notice in their terminal.
Keeping recordings on your computer
Use the addon on its own, or pause sharing in the companion settings, to keep new recordings local. Closing the Windows companion window leaves it running in the tray. Quit from the tray menu to stop it. Stopping uploads does not remove data already sent.
Neither tool asks for your Battle.net password. The companion installs and updates Simforever Probe in the addon folder and reads its saved data and the game's combat logs.
Contributor accounts
Optional account linking uses Discord sign-in. We store your Discord user ID and display name, linked devices, upload receipts and contribution points. We do not request your Discord password, email, friends or messages. Sign-in uses an essential session cookie.
A linked companion receives a credential that can submit recordings for your account. Windows protects that credential for your user account. You can revoke devices on the contribution page. Revoking access stops credited uploads from that device; use the companion's sharing settings to pause collection uploads.
To prevent duplicate points and investigate abuse, we retain hashes of accepted combat readings, credit history and upload review status. Submission limits use temporary hashed network identifiers. Linked contributions are visible to you and the project operators; there is no public points leaderboard.
How we use contributed data
We use game recordings to check mechanics and develop the WoW Forever simulator. Uploads do not currently create a public character profile or enter your build in a ranking. Passing upload checks does not automatically promote a recording into verified engine mechanics.
